"My mother came from Eagle Pass, Texas and we know great enchildas. Yours are exceptional."

Edward Speed, San Antonio,Tx

I first tasted Tuldys tortilla soup at a fancy food show/ fund raiser in Dallas, Texas. I did not believe the server that the soup she served was from a mix. When she showed me the Tuldys mix, I bought several on the spot.

When I returned home to Cleveland, Ohio I tried the mix on some of my food-snobby friends. They expect nothing less from me than fresh, homemade, delicious food. I had run out of time to create dinner, so I tried the mix. They all loved it! After their reviews, I admitted that the soup was a mix. Most of them took down the information and ordered several of your products for themselves.

When food snobs order mixes, you know you’ve done it right.

Bob Greenwald, amateur chef, Cleveland

I recently did a “ commercial chili cook-off” using every mix I could find at local stores. This included the old Terlinguia era stuff- Fowlers and Shelbys- new- Jardines and Willies- and McCormicks and Lowerys. And Tuldys. I did both “ stock” and “ modified” divisions, and Tuldys won across the board! Everyone who sampled preferred Tuldys. I’ve just received my recent order ( super fast shipping-Thanks! ) and will try the enchilada sauce this week. Great stuff!

Jeff Connor, Concan, Tx

I can't believe I waited this long to tell you (because I've been telling everyone else), but you rule! I don't know where to begin...I guess with the enchilada sauce. Wow! Best freakin' enchiladas I've had in years. And the salsa mix...awesome! I really like your Chilies knockoff too. Muchas gracias for the all-purpose seasoning, I haven't found a bad use for it yet. We're going to try the fajita seasoning and your pinto bean recipe later this week. I feel quite certain that I will not be let down.

Expect another order soon!

HISTORY

Tuldys was started because I saw a need for a product. Actually I saw the need twenty five years ago but I let twenty years pass before doing anything about it. Somewhere around a quarter century ago when I was freshman in college, I attempted to make homemade enchiladas for my roommates. I used the only available enchilada sauce on the market ( canned ) and cheddar cheese and they were awful!

It was then I noticed that need. How about an "edible" enchilada sauce that people could make at home? Well, Like I said, I let twenty years pass before I attempted to correct this glaring fault in our society.

When my youngest started Kindergarten, it left me no one to play with during the day ( I have a real job that affords me lots of time off) so I sat out to develop my sauce.

I approached a wholesale spice company and told them of my plight. They were very helpful and soon I had developed a dry powder that when mixed with water, made a delicious sauce that would rival my favorite Texmex restaurant here in Austin. Just for grins I entered the sauce in the annual product competition sponsored by "Chile Pepper" magazine. Well there wasn't a product category even close to "enchiladas sauce", so I entered " seasonings and rubs". Obviously a bar-b-q category. But guess what? We took third place. Not bad for a product without a category! Well, that was 1999 and since then we've developed several more products and won lots of those national awards. There are actually three national awards in the "Fiery foods" industry and all of our products have won them all many times. For a list of our twenty-seven national awards, click here.

So if you're hungry for chili, try ours, voted best in the country for 2002 and 2003. Our best seller is our tortilla soup, thousands of devoted fans all over the country. Our instant salsa tastes fresh and our spicy holy chipotle dip can really wake up a veggie tray.

We hope you give our products a try. Remember there's always a money back guarantee. We hope you enjoy your visit to our site and maybe you'll learn something. Leave us any questions, comments, gripes, or glowing testimonials, at the forum area.

Thank you,

Where did that strange name come from?
It was actually my grandmothers nickname, given to her by my grandfather (he's the dashing gentleman in the picture). The origin of the name is kind of suspect, no one really knows where it came from. She's been gone for about 20 years now, and I'm not sure she ever had good texmex food, or even liked it. I was going to name a sailboat after her, but seeing as how I don't own a sailboat, I thought this would be a fitting tribute. She's probably watching from above, (seeing all of my mistakes) and would be terribly embarrassed that her picture is in front of billions of people. All of us love and miss you, Gran.
